A military court in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Friday sentenced to death three Americans who had been arrested following a failed coup attempt back in May, the AP reports.
The three, Benjamin Reuben Zalman-Polun, 36, Tyler Thompson Jr, 21, and Marcel Malanga, also 21, were among 37 sentenced to die for participating in the coup attempt launched by Marcel’s father, 41 year-old Salt Lake City Congolese-American car dealer (and Trump fan) Christian Malanga, a dumbass who attacked the wrong building on the morning of the coup attempt.
And got himself killed. Thompson, who seems to just be a high school buddy of Marcel’s, claimed to his own family he had just been flying to South Africa for a vacation with the Malangas. Marcel’s mother Brittney Sawyer, has said her son is innocent and was simply following his father, who considered himself president of a shadow government in exile. It’s not clear if the State Department is going to try to get these idiots out of the DRC or they’re just going to leave it be.
