A force led by German Lieutenant General Jürgen-Joachim von Sandrart will cross the German-Polish border within the next few days to help with recovery from recent flooding and seriously nothing else, DPA reports. Like it’s fine, really. There’s only 120 of them. They were invited to assist.
There’s nothing else going on with this, even if we can put up a headline where everyone can joke that “Germany’s invading Poland again! Haha!” Seriously, everything’s cool. “If you see German soldiers, please don’t panic. This is help. Just so there are no doubts,” said Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, obviously recognizing that there might be some hard feelings even if few of the people who witnessed it the last time are still around. The Prime Minister says everything’s fine, okay?
