Mexican officials on Thursday denied a US military deportation flight permission to land in the country and drop off around 80 undocumented migrants, NBC News reports.
“Mexico has a very good relationship with the United States government and we cooperate with respect for our sovereignty on a wide range of issues, including migration,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement light on details. “When it comes to repatriations, we will always welcome the arrival of Mexicans to our territory with open arms. Mexico embraces you.”
It’s not clear whether the flight ever took off on Friday or Saturday. Guatemala on the other hand has received three US military flights with a total of 256 deportees so far this week.
