A Cessna Caravan with nine passengers and one pilot on board operated by Bering Air bound for Nome, Alaska from nearby Unalakleet went missing on Thursday at about 4:00 PM AKST, CBS News reports, citing statements from the Alaska State Troopers and the US Coast Guard. The single propeller aircraft had entered a holding pattern while awaiting staff at Nome to clear the runway and its last known location was over the Norton Sound just off of Nome. “We continue to expand search efforts to as many avenues as possible until the plane is located,” officials from the Nome Fire Department said, but “due to weather and visibility, we are limited on air search at the current time.”
