This bill ensures that all official government functions are conducted in English and reinforces a uniform English language requirement for naturalization. This bill will codify President Trump’s Executive Order designating English as the official language of the United States,” says Sporkfoot’s office in a press release that decries how “For generations, America has welcomed individuals from all over the world. But in recent years, our country has lost its identity because our government has failed to require new citizens to assimilate,” thus the bill would require “individuals applying for US citizenship demonstrate the ability to read and understand key founding documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution,” like that doesn’t just basically describe the citizenship test.
Absent from the press release is any mention of the real reason for this bill: That convicted felon President Trump’s stupid executive order “Designating English as the Official Language of The United States” from last week didn’t actually do that to any binding effect, thus requiring Greene and her dipshit co-sponsors to pretend to legislate in between their appearances on right wing media.
