Ontario Premier Doug Ford on Monday announced that the 25 percent increase in electricity prices for export to the US are now in effect, the AP reports on another setback for convicted felon President Trump’s empty campaign pledge to cut Americans’ utility bills in half in by 2026.
“I will not hesitate to increase this charge. If the United State escalates, I will not hesitate to shut the electricity off completely,” Ford said at a news conference in Toronto. “Believe me when I say I do not want to do this. I feel terrible for the American people who didn’t start this trade war. It’s one person who is responsible, it’s Trump.” Ford says he expects $300,000 CAD a day in new revenue.
