Canadian entrepreneur Jasmine Mooney, a 35 year-old white woman with a bougie water brand is finally free after 12 days in various ICE detention facilities in Arizona and California, her arrest coming on March 3rd when she tried to enter via the border crossing between Tijuana on a “TN work visa” that had been revoked in November, 10 News San Diego reports, adding the ICE squad putting her on a flight to Vancouver went out of the way to avoid the station’s cameras.
“They drove off and then they took me in the back because they didn’t want any media attention, so they just snuck me in,” Mooney, a former B-movie actress, said in a phone call to the station from the tarmac before her flight to Vancouver took off, adding that she saw the news crew waiting and confirmed that’s why the ICE van sped off to another entrance. “I was in the back, all like, in chains.”
Reporting elsewhere indicated that Mooney was held in the same conditions as and along with Central American migrants, stuck in a large jail cell all day with one sink and toilet between 30+ women, forced to sleep on a concrete floor with just mats. Inhumane no matter who you are, attractive white woman or not. The real question is why the fuck she was detained at all rather than simply turned away. ICE did not respond to any requests for comment on that issue.
“If it wasn’t for Brittany and my friends with a ton of resources and my family and you guys and your story, I would still be in there,” said Mooney after the “inhumane” ordeal was over.
