Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will make a previously unannounced trip to Washington, DC on Wednesday when he will meet with President Joe Biden and Congressional leaders as Republicans in Congress vow to cut funding for the Ukrainian military, the Associated Press reports.
The importance of Washington’s support is evidenced by Zelenskyy choosing the United States for his first known trip outside Ukraine since the Russians invaded in February. Outgoing Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi notified members to be on hand for Wednesday evening’s session, indicating Zelenskyy will address at least the House and perhaps a rare joint session. National Zero will stream the speech live.
