Reality television star and all-star breeder turned Fox political expert Rachel Campos-Duffy takes the conservatives’ easy, brainless way to explain a humanitarian crisis at the southern border by comparing it to … well, you’ll see:
It’s so interesting. We had nationwide riots over slavery 200 years ago and here we are allowing traffickers and cartels to establish slavery in our own country, um, using the most vulnerable people. Y’know you talk about the difference between Republicans and Democrats, you’re from Texas, Congresswoman, I remember what the media and the Democrats did when Con–, er, when Senator Cruz left on vacation in the middle of that ice storm. Why hasn’t there been more outrage over what’s happening in our country: energy— [continues with a vomitous list of conservative talking points that cost them their chance in the 2022 midterms].
Point I: The Rule Number One: The only thing that should be compared to institutional slavery in the pre-Civil War United States is actual slavery. Migrants seeking a better life in America is most definitely not slavery.
Point II: The US did not experience nationwide riots to protest slavery 200 years ago. First, about 160 years ago, we fought a Civil War that was prefaced by some terrorist acts (calling you, John Brown). The conservative-run states (i.e., “the Red States”) involved in the Civil War wanted to preserve slavery–because they thought it was a fine and dandy life for the human beings they owned, and for them, too–while “the Blue State” liberals sought to eliminate it. So while there were protests and legislative action in half the country, the other half (today’s Red States) pushed the status quo. They still do, because they’re dependent on undocumented workers to keep their farms, factories, hotels and landscaping businesses going.
Point III: Having moved from rural Wisconsin to the sinful city of New York because they want to fight the liberal establishment from the comforts of an Upper Westside brownstone, Campos-Duffy falsely insinuates the federal government is “allowing” the re-establishment of slavery in the United States, something longstanding law enforcement efforts counter.
Point IV: The breeding vessel of former GOP Wisconsin Congressman, former fellow reality TeeVee start and fellow Fox network host (…’cause they really hate celebrities who are not themselves) Sean Duffy to whom she expelled nine children to date, Campos-Duffy shifts to blame “the media” for covering a Republican Texas Senator abandoning his constituents for a foreign luxury vacation in Cancun, thanks to the riches amassed by his investment firm partner wife, as residents of Texas were literally freezing to death. He didn’t just “go on vacation”; he fled.
Point V: “Why hasn’t there been more outrage this country[?}” Personifying the faux outrage Fox must generate, Campos-Duffy forgets the previous administration’s policy of fomenting outrage and channeling TFG’s malignant idiocy to his masses, culminating in an attack on Congress by Republican-led domestic terrorists, hundreds of whom are facing or have faced punishment in the US court system, with many more to follow.
Point VI: When someone on Fox says something is “interesting,” it’s really not. It’s their way of introducing an inane talking point.
Point VII: Like all these conservative armchair pundits, Campos-Duffy enjoys her life in Manhattan, scoffing their noses at the liberal lifestyle in the city they enjoy, making money in the media establishment they demean, leading the gullible around by the nose thanks to uneducated talking points spewed by reality TeeVee stars with no practical experience positioned as experts in international policy.
