We truly apologize to our National Zero audience for subjecting you to two Tucker Carlson clips in a row, but the son of a frozen food heiress has gone the way you just *knew* it was going to go when you learned the five Memphis officers indicted for beating unarmed motorist Tyre Nichols were Black.  Carlson says that the incident happened not because Tyre Nichols was Black… but because the officers were.

So the race riots of 2020 were never about George Floyd, obviously,” Carlson slimes.  “That’s why there are no statues of him in American cities.  They were about changing the country forever.  The first step, of course, was defunding the police departments across the country and forcing them to lower their standards to attract unqualified applicants, hiring officers based on skin color rather than integrity or skill or self-control, all in the name of equity.  But does that end up in better policing? Well, what happened in Memphis a few weeks ago. [Carlson here shows the mug shots of the five Black former officers indicted in Nichols murder.]

Only one of the officers involved was hired in 2020; another transferred to the police force from the corrections department.  And Tuck’ums, why don’t you explain all the police abuse prior to George Floyd’s death… which was at the hands of police officers all hired before the Black Lives Matter protests?  Or don’t those count?

And incidentally, there was a statue of George Floyd erected in Minneapolis on Juneteenth of 2022.  It was removed less than a week later because of the damage caused by vandals, likely Tucker Carlson fans.
