Federal prosecutors are set to charge Republican former Michigan state House Speaker Rick Johnson over his alleged accepting of bribes to approve applications to open medical marijuana dispensaries in his current role as chairman of the weed licensing board, the Detroit News reports.
Johnson is not to be confused with Republican fellow former Michigan state House Speaker Lee Chatfield, who is also likely under criminal investigation for sexually abusing his sister-in-law and an array of other crimes. Western District of Michigan US Attorney Mark Totten and FBI Michigan Chief Special Agent James Tarasca are expected to announce the charges 10 AM on Thursday.
