The Russian arms dealer swapped for American professional basketball player Britney Griner has been selected to be a nominee for a regional legislative seat by a far-right Putin-aligned political group, Reuters reports.

Exchanged last December, Victor Bout will be the nominee for a seat in the Ulyanovsk Oblast in west-central Russia for the ultra-nationalist Liberal Democratic Party, which despite its name supports neither democracy nor liberal values and is most akin to the Make Russia Great Again movement.
