A backer of child trafficking-themed and Trump-promoted QAnon fan film Sound of Freedom was arrested late last month on charges of child kidnapping in Missouri, Newsweek reports, while forcing National Zero to do the homework and determine that they really fucking oversold their headline.
The film, starring Q-pilled maniac former headliner Jim Caviezel as a fictional version of real-life anti-trafficking activist Tim Ballard, was completed in 2018 and set to be distributed by 20th Century Fox’s Latin American subsidiary, only to be shelved when Disney bought the Fox entertainment properties from the Murdochs. The filmmakers bought the movie back from Lord Mouse but needed a distribution deal to get it into theaters, a lengthy search exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In came the Christian-themed Angel Studios, who crowdfunded the $5 million from its “Angel Guild” of 100,000+ group of small investors, who overwhelmingly approved Sound of Freedom‘s message and got it released this year. Among those was 51 year-old Fabian Marta of Chesterfield, Missouri, who apparently kicked in enough get a spot in the ending credits as “Fabian Marta and family.”
Details are scant and the St Louis Metropolitan Police would only confirm the arrest and the charges against Marta to Newsweek, who posted $15,000 bail and was released on his own recognizance the day after he was cuffed on July 24. Those not very onerous terms for a felony kidnapping charge put together with a 2014 Missouri state court record listing Marta as the respondent in an “FC Dissolution- w/ Children” case that was settled the same year with his now ex-wife would very, very strongly suggest that this was a simple violation of custodial terms rather than yet another case of blatant MAGA scumbag hypocrisy when it comes to “protecting children from predators.”
Is it a good look for a Q-adjacent right winger to be arrested on such a charge? No. Is Marta a good father? Not likely. Does that justify Newsweek’s omission of the almost certainly related family court case, especially when they literally fucking printed in their article that they had searched state court records to confirm the details of the current criminal proceedings against him and would have seen the “FC Dissolution- w/ Children” on the very same first page of search results? That question was extra rhetorical. We already knew Newsweek is a piece of shit operation. This was a whole new unique and interesting way for them to suck at their job and waste our time while they’re at it.
