Republicans in the Wisconsin state legislature are switching to their Plan B in their search for a pretext to impeach newly seated state Supreme Court Justice Janet Protasiewicz after the Wisconsin Judicial Commission ruled that her campaign statements about abortion policy and the state’s extreme gerrymanders were not any grounds to pursue complaints against her, deciding that she received $10 million in campaign contributions from Democrats would make a good case to show that she’s “compromised” and thus incapable of ruling impartially on important matters.
Small problem though, as the AP reports all three conservatives on the bench had received contributions from state, local, and national GOP groups before they were elected. Plus her opponent, Dan Kelly took in over $1.2 million in total from the state Republican Party.
