“The House Judiciary Committee will be in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 9:00 am CT. The Committee will examine, ‘Victims of Violent Crime in Chicago,’ and how Chicago District Attorney Kim Foxx’s pro-crime and anti-victim policies are leading to an increase in violent crime and a dangerous community for Chicago residents” says a House Judiciary Committee press release which lists the witnesses as “Gianno Caldwell, family member of a murder victim,” and “Lt John Garrido III, Retired Detective,” and “Carlos Yanez Jr, Retired Officer” both formerly with Chicago PD.
Gianno Caldwell, a Chicago native DC-based Fox News political analyst, did in fact tragically lose his younger brother to gun violence just last year. The kid was only 18 years old. However we already know where this is going: It’s won’t be about how weapons picked up by straw buyers in Indiana have been flooding the streets and turning the city into a bloodbath, it’ll be all “StOp eLeCtiNG DeMoCRatS beCAuSe tHeY R 2 sOFt oN cRiME!!!!11!!” and Jim Jordan is all too happy to exploit Caldwell’s grief (and he’s complicit too). There won’t be any community leaders, local clergy, anti-violence activists, or anyone actually dealing with this shit day-to-day there to talk about it. It’s all just “Violence in Chicago is bad. See? Look at the violence here! Isn’t it so freaking horrible?”
Which amazingly is somehow even more bullshit than the one he did in New York in April to make it look like District Attorney Alvin Bragg was too focused on prosecuting Trump and not enough on crime in his jurisdiction. It was a spectacular failure per usual with Jordan’s efforts this Congress.
