“Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 254,000 in September, and the unemployment rate changed little at 4.1 percent, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment continued to trend up in food services and drinking places, health care, government, social assistance, and construction,” says the US Bureau of Labor Statistics in the September jobs report.
The surge crushed expectations of 150,000 new jobs/4.2 percent rate, per CNBC. Hourly earnings, up 0.4 percent on the month, and 4 percent year over year, beat 0.3/3.8 percent expected.
