On the question of “The US military should put immigrants who are in the country illegally into internment camps until they can be deported,” the Public Religion Research Institute’s post-election national survey finds 46 percent of Republican respondents saying yes, compared 26 percent overall and 48 percent of those who scored high on PRRI’s “Right-Wing Authoritarianism Scale.”
The RWA scale was developed back in September, and found that 21 percent of all respondents to a survey then either partially or completely agreed with four out of four extremist statements on free speech, “smashing moral perversions,” strongman autocracy, and purging “rotten apples” (all in brief), with another 20 percent fully or completely agreeing to three out of four of them.
Naturally 82 percent of these 4/4 and 3/4 RWA voters supported convicted felon President-Elect Trump last month while 79 percent of the 1/4 and 0/4 RWA voters went for Vice President Kamala Harris. In another fucked-up finding, 60 percent of white Evangelicals and 45 percent of Hispanic Evangelicals agreed that “God ordained Donald Trump to be the winner of the 2024 election.”
