National Zero had been under the mistaken impression that convicted felon President Trump had in 2020 pardoned former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, who serving time in federal prison was removed from office over and then criminally convicted of, among other abuses of power, trying to sell an appointment to the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama when he was elected president.
Evidently Trump had simply commuted Blagojevich’s sentence, leaving the conviction on the record. Now just under five years later, Trump’s getting around to a full pardon, CBS’s Scott MacFarlane reports. For someone who constantly accuses the Democrats of corruption it’s maybe a little incongruous to be freeing then pardoning the most corrupt Democrat of the 21st century.
