Dem Senators Andy Kim and Tammy Duckworth will on Monday introduce the Protect Veteran Jobs Act, forcing the Trump Regime to reinstate every US military veteran who has been DOGEd needlessly over the past few weeks and also require a quarterly summary on the number of vets removed from the federal workforce – and the justification for their firing, ABC News reports.
“Veterans who choose to continue their service to our country in the federal workforce deserve our utmost gratitude, but instead this Administration has kicked thousands of our heroes to the curb and left them without a paycheck,” Duckworth, a disabled combat veteran, said in a statement. “The message of our bill is simple: Give our heroes their jobs back. If Republicans really care about our Veterans, they should stop enabling Trump and Musk’s chaos and support our legislation.”
Hard to call this simply a “messaging bill” when there’s a not-completely-insignificant chance it could pass. If it does, great, if not then the Republican excuse for blocking it ought to be interesting, to say the least. Ted Cruz is always good for some speciously doctrinaire and/or technocratic horseshit but this is probably going to be a tough one for him to conjure up. Maybe more likely is a “poison pill” rider like abolishing the Department of Education or putting Trump on the $100 bill.
