According to the Idaho Statemen, the meeting of the Central District Health board of directors had to be canceled because of protesters being disruptive. The difference in this one: most of the board members were participating remotely over Zoom, and the protestors were showing up at their homes.
While some of the Board members were in a room at the CDH offices, which serve Ada, Boise, Elmore and Valley Counties, more of the were calling in to the meeting from their homes.
Commissioner Diana Lachiondo tearfully left the virtual meeting, which she was attending from her office, after learning anti-mask and anti-regulation protesters were in front of her house, yelling and banging trash cans, as her teenage son was alone inside.
Another board member, Dr. Ted Epperly, told the Statesman that protesters gathered at his house as well. He said that about 15 people were outside his home, “beating garbage cans and flashing strobe lights through my windows. Two came up and knocked on my door during the meeting.”
At the suggestion of Boise Mayor Lauren McLaren and Police Chief Ryan Lee, CDH Director Russ Duke dismissed the meeting because protesters had gathered at the homes of members as well as the three offices housing local board offices. The Mayor and the Police Chief said the protesters were causing a danger to those participating.
