Republican Florida Senator Marco Rubio said that he will vote to end the impeachment trial of Donald Trump the first chance he gets, saying that revisiting Trump’s role in fueling the Capitol insurrection will be bad for the country.

On “Fox News Sunday” with Chris Wallace, Rubio claimed that the Constitutional ability to bar someone from running for office is”an arrogant statement for anyone to make. Voters get to decide that. Who are we to tell voters who they can vote for in the future?” according to Politico.
While he acknowledges that Trump “bears responsibility” for the violence that engulfed the Capitol on January 6th, Rubio does not believe an impeachment trial would be beneficial to the country, saying that a more suitable punishment would let “history” to decide.
“We going to jump back in, what we’ve been going through for the last five years, stirring it up again with a trial, and it’s just going to be bad for the country,” Rubio said.
