The golden idol of Donald Trump that came to exemplify this year’s CPAC conference, held last weekend in Florida, was made in China and imported into the United States, the artist admitted, the Independent UK reports.
Tommy Zegan, the artist behind the graven image of a false god, originally said the statue was made in Mexico, but a business partner of his said the various parts of the statue were made in China and then shipped to Mexico, where it was assembled.
For the record, the statue is made of fiberglass covered in gold-tinted chrome. Weighing in at 200 pounds, the statue is approximately 100 pounds lighter than the person it depicts.
