Gunshots were fired at the Connecticut state capitol building in Hartford over Memorial Day weekend, with three bullet holes discovered in the building Tuesday morning, the Hartford Courant reports. No one was injured in the attack.
The bullet holes, one of which hit a glass transom above a public entrance to the building, were discovered on the south side of the building as workers returned to the capitol Tuesday morning. They could have been fired at any time from Sunday night through Tuesday morning, when the building was largely empty.
Democratic Governor Ned Lamont was working at the Capitol Tuesday, and no significant increase in police presence was observed. State Police, major crimes investigators from the Hartford Police and Capitol Police are investigating the incident.
“Whenever you hear of something like this it is obviously concerning,’’ said Max Reiss, a spokesman for Lamont. “We are looking to learn more from the investigation.”
