Pillow magnate (and man who *really* will do anything to get you to drive off the lot in that 1994 Ford Probe GT) Mike Lindell faces another hurdle in getting reinstated by his most-recently promised August 13th deadline because a Minnesota federal court has put an indefinite hold on the lawsuit Lindell filed in the state to overturn the November 2020 election.
“A federal court in Minnesota has temporarily put on hold the lawsuit that pillow executive Mike Lindell boasted would prompt the Supreme Court to unanimously overturn the results of the 2020 election,” Brad Heath of Reuters reports.
The lawsuit, filed against Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic in Minnesota federal court, is stayed until the case brought by Dominion in the DC Federal Court has some issues resolved.
“The Court noted that ‘the decision on the motions that are pending in [the D.C. action] will undoubtedly inform and affect the parties’ briefing on Dominion’s CASE 0:21-cv-01332-PJS-DTS Doc. 19 Filed 07/07/21 Page 1 of 3 anticipated motions [to dismiss or transfer] in this case. If the parties submit briefing on Dominion’s anticipated motions before the pending motions in the D.C. action are decided, it is inevitable that the parties will seek to file supplemental briefs in this action to address the impact of the ruling in the D.C. action, adding expense and delay for the parties, and adding to the burden on this Court.’ My Pillow, Inc., Case No. 21‐CV‐1015 (PJS/DTS), ECF No. 49 at 1.”
Basically: the case in Minnesota cannot proceed without issues in the DC case, brought by Dominion against MyPillow and Lindell, are first resolved. That DC case has yet to schedule a date set to hear the motions.
It should also be noted that the inclusion of Smartmatic in the Minnesota case is unusual, given that no electoral precinct in Minnesota used Smartmatic software. In fact, only one county in the entire United States–Los Angeles County–used Smartmatic software in the 2020 elections.
Lindell has stated that the Minnesota lawsuit will be the crux of his effort to reinstate Donald Trump to the presidency–a move for which there is no Constitutional path–on August 13th. It is unclear if Lindell intends to delay that again.
