A 72-year-old man from Queens, New York was arrested by the Secret Service Monday morning for threatening to kill Donald Trump if he failed to leave office following losing the November 2020 election, CNBC reports.
Thomas Welnicki of Rockaway Beach was interviewed by Secret Service agents in July 2020, prior to the election, relating to a series of threatening calls he made to the White House and to members of Congress. In a voluntary interview with agents, he “bragged about how easy it was for him to acquire a firearm and added, ‘I don’t want to hurt anyone, but I will stand up to fascism,’” the complaint says. “At the end of the interview, Welnicki stated, ‘I really hope that God takes [Trump] out,'” the report says.
Trump was referred to as “Individual-1” in the complaint, the same designation used for Trump in the indictment of lawyer Michael Cohen for illegally paying off porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about a sexual liaison she had with Trump.
