A report on an official investigation by British government journeywoman administrator Sue Gray has determined Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s staff basically acted like there were no COVID-19 restrictions at his birthday party in 2020, getting absolutely shitfaced and trashing the official residence at 10 Downing Street until the early morning hours, the New York Times reports.
“A number of these gatherings should not have been allowed to take place or to develop in the way that they did,”the report said, adding “at least some of the gatherings in question represent a serious failure to observe not just the high standards expected of those working at the heart of Government but also of the standards expected of the entire British population at the time… I was made aware of multiple examples of a lack of respect and poor treatment of security and cleaning staff. This was unacceptable. Many will be dismayed that behavior of this kind took place on this scale at the heart of Government. The public have a right to expect the very highest standards of behavior in such places and clearly what happened fell well short of this.”
