Multiple gunmen opened fire during closing time at a Chattanooga, Tennessee nightclub led to a stampede in the parking lot as scores of people fled on foot and in cars. According to the Associated Press, three people were dead–one from injuries incurred by a car–and 14 people were shot.
Police were called to the club at around 2:40 a.m. Sunday for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found dozens of people injured, some from the gunfire and some from the chaos of people trying to flee the shooting. Two people who were killed died of gunshot wounds.
The shooting did not appear to be random and instead seems to have stemmed from an argument between people in the club. Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly, an Independent, called on Congress to pass common-sense gun reforms to limit the distribution of high-powered guns and high-capacity magazines.
