“If you want an #AmericaFirst candidate in the Senate from Alabama, there is only one in this race. As this independent polling shows, if President Trump will #ReEndorseMo, we will win. Then we can fight for the MAGA agenda, together!” tweeted Mo Brooks at 7:54 PM on Friday night, which he fucking deleted literally two minutes after we published this article with it embedded at the top.
In the tweet was a screenshot of a typed statement trying to pitch Trump on re-endorsing him. We didn’t read it, but just by the length you can tell how desperate Brooks was. The best part is how just 3 hours later Trump endorsed Brooks’ primary opponent Katie Britt, crushing the faint glimmers of hope and ending the long, sordid saga of Trump and Alabama’s Senate delegation for good.
Probably. The runoff is in ten days and we guess anything could happen before then. Maybe.
Trump has actually had an easier time with the Senate Class 3 seat (currently held by retiring Senator Richard Shelby whom Brooks and Britt are running to replace) than the Class 2 seat now held by fucking moron Tommy Tuberville. It was in 2016 when Jeff Sessions became the first member of the Senate to endorse Donald, for which he rewarded the Keebler man with the nomination to become his first Attorney General. Then Trump endorsed Sessions’ appointed replacement Luther Strange, only to see him lose in a primary against credibly accused child molester Roy Moore. Trump then supported Moore who lost to Democrat Doug Jones in the December 2017 special election to serve out the rest of Sessions’ term. After being fired in 2018 over recusing himself from the Russia investigation, Sessions ran to reclaim his old seat, only to see Trump endorse the dullard former college sportsball coach Tuberville against him, who handily defeated little Jeffy and then went on to beat Doug Jones in 2020.
So it’s tough to decide which former loyalist was urinated on by Trump more humiliatingly, Sessions or Brooks. “This is weird: last time Donald Trump talked about Katie Britt, he said she was unqualified for the Senate. Donald Trump is the only man in American politics who could get conned by Mitch McConnell twice in an Alabama Senate race” and blah blah blah “The people of Alabama will decide,” tweeted Mo on Friday after the news broke. Kind of like how Jeff Sessions claimed Trump’s “personal feelings don’t dictate who Alabama picks as their Senator,” in May 2020.
We’re still counting Alabama as an endorsement loss for Trump, even though the fat fuck is going to call it a win. Had he not waited until after Brooks made it to a runoff against then it’d be a split like in Pennsylvania, where he endorsed a child abuser who dropped out before backing a New Jersey resident who beat his opponent by like 900 votes out of over 1.3 million cast.
