And so it begins.
Four people who attended the republican National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina have tested positive for coronavirus, according to Politico.
Two delegates and two RNC staffers were identified as COVID positive. No information was provided about where those infected were from nor where they returned to after the meeting.
Masks were frowned upon during the RNC in Charlotte, and social distancing guidelines were not enforced. During a speech by President Trump, people crowded the stage shoulder-to-shoulder.
The Charlotte portion of the convention was greatly downscaled because Trump wanted a crowd to hear his speech. Only delegates attended the business sessions in Charlotte. Trump initially wanted the convention moved to Jacksonville, Florida where they would have crowds and celebrations, but Florida spike coronavirus cases.
Trump instead settled for a legally-dubious event on the South Lawn of the White House, where approximately 1,500 people, the vast majority without masks, sat shoulder to shoulder to watch a three-hour program, including a speech by Trump that lasted more than an hour.
