Republican Maryland Governor Larry Hogan stated that his Party’s chosen nominee to succeed him in office is “not mentally stable” because he’s a conspiracy theorist who believes the lies of Donald Trump, the Washington Post reports.
Term limited so he can’t run for re-election, Hogan has frequently belittled the Republican nominee for Maryland Governor, Dan Cox, labelling him a “QAnon whack job” and a devotee of Donald Trump, with whom Hogan, a relatively moderate Republican, has significant problems.
“He’s not, in my opinion, mentally stable,” Hogan said during a Wednesday radio interview. “He wanted to hang my friend, Mike Pence, and took three busloads of people to the Capitol.”
A member of the state legislature from Frederick, Maryland–known locally as “Fredneck”–Cox was deeply involved in the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election. A lawyer, Cox went to Philadelphia to be part of Donald Trump’s team attempting to stop the count of mail-in ballots because yadda yadda George Soros. On January 6th, he tweeted that Vice President Mike Pence was “a traitor.”
