It appears Republican gubernatorial nominee Doug Mastriano’s promise to turn Pennsylvania into Florida is getting a head start thanks to people like Pennsylvania Man Jeremy Lee Pauley of Enola in southcentral PA. According to USA Today, the self-described “collector of oddities” arranged for an Arkansas mortuary employee to abscond with a corpse to sell to Pauley, who would pay the mortuary employee $4,000 according to messages between the two taken from Facebook Messenger.
Pauley’s Facebook page notes that he trades in body parts which he says he sells to collectors, museums and schools. On his page, he shows himself searching through containers filled with femurs and other human bones. Pauley runs a Facebook page called “The Grand Wunderkammer” where he offers his wares for sale. When police searched his residence, they found full skeletons and various other human remains, including a bucket filled with what appeared to be the remains of a child. Pauley was able to prove that some of the remains were obtained legally; he wasn’t able to demonstrate that for all that was found in his residence.
“I think I’ve seen it all, and then something like this comes around,” said Sean McCormack, district attorney for Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. “The question we had to answer was, Is the sale of body parts or bones and remains illegal … or legal? Some of it, to our surprise, was legal. And as the investigation went on, it became clear there was illegal activity going on as well.”
