A few months ago MAGA social media dickwads were lavishing praise on freakish Libertarian Argentinian President Javier Milei for finally taking a huge bite out of the large South American country’s decades-long inflation problem that had gotten even worse before took power following a landslide win in last year’s election, claiming it as a vindication of government austerity and an omen for a second Trump Reich and all the usual bullshit you’d expect Charlie Kirk and his ilk.

Since then it kind of tailed off and AFP reports why: As a result of Milei’s “chainsawing” public expenditures and payrolls the poverty rate in Argentina shot up from 41.7 percent in the second half of 2023 to 52.9 percent in the first half of 2024, per the INDEC statistics agency. Now this is NOT to say it won’t work out and Argentina will eventually find its way to having a stable and sustainable economy. What Milei’s doing is really the standard operating procedure for reining in inflation. He has the mandate to do this and he’ll have to not fuck up his next steps, whatever they may be.

Whether or not his fanboys here in the United States understand and accept that is besides the point as it’s a safe bet it would be very much lost on most of their fans who would think “Wait, what the fuck? I thought Milei was going to Make Argentina Great Again. Why is poverty UP now?” So the MAGAmerican influencers tweet nothing. Javier Milei isn’t a thing anymore in Catturd Country.

At least four people are dead and 1.5 million without power after Category 4 Hurricane Helene plowed into Northern Florida’s Big Bend region of the Gulf Coast, CNN reports.

In a particularly grim message to residents prior to the storm hitting, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday posted “If you or someone you know chose not to evacuate, PLEASE write your, Name, birthday and important information on your arm or leg in A PERMANENT MARKER so that you can be identified and family notified.” Should probably have said Social Security number too.

Weird how a candidate just speaking directly to the camera with a brief montage seems so basic yet effective. Must’ve been a bit of focus-grouping that went into this. Just saying you’re all tired of the bullshit, you can elect me and we’ll move past it is a solid piece of messaging too.

Sources tell the Washington Post that, despite repeated outreach efforts from the Vice President’s team, Utah Senator Mitt Romney does not plan on endorsing Kamala Harris because of ideological and policy differences and all that shit. Plus he’s “questioned the value and impact of his endorsement and expressed a desire to preserve his ability to rebuild the Republican Party in a post-Trump world, said three people familiar with those conversations and his thinking who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private deliberations,” according to the Post.

Which is fine. We think it’s stupid, but fine. However the Post then writes that Romney “has also cited concerns for the safety of his family as one reason for his reluctance to endorse her, a person familiar with his thinking said, also speaking on the condition of anonymity to disclose private conversations.” Obviously that should be the most important consideration but the fact that he even brings it up makes the normal political reasons seem like self-rationalized afterthoughts.

Hard to see how the takeaway could be anything other than fear of violent retribution. We can respect that, but if he’s already spending $5,000 a day on private security after having voted to convict Trump in both of his impeachment trials then how much worse could it get if he endorses Trump’s opponent? Is he just hoping that the MAGA terrorists will forget eventually about him once he’s out of office a year from now so he can eventually dial back on the protection detail?

In a series of emails obtained through a public records request by ABC News, officials in Springfield, Ohio backed out of a planned conference call with their sitting senator, Mike Pence replacement JD Vance, after learning that Jaydee had planned to allow “third parties” with “first-hand experience” dealing with the fake stories of Haitian migrants abducting pets and eating them, shit that Jaydee publicly acknowledged was made-up for political reasons several times this month.

After learning of the planned MAGA sandbagging of the conference call, Mayor Rob Rue replied to Vance’s state director James Coyne on September 17, writing it was “disheartening to see our vibrant community drawn into the national immigration debate, leading to disruptions in daily life and increased security concerns. Over the past week, schools and public offices have been closed due to threats,” to which Coyne responded that Vance’s office had been “inundated with constituent complaints [this was a week after Vance claimed he was getting calls about missing pets and his minion wasn’t going along with it in the email]. Our intention in inviting some of these constituents to join the call was to help facilitate a dialogue between residents we have heard from with first-hand experiences and city officials to help him contextualize their perspective with yours.”

While there’s no sign that they’re not actually moving forward on it yet, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and her staff are dusting off the old state law books to see how she might go about removing newly-indicted New York City Mayor Eric Adams, which it does seem that she has the power to do, saying in a statement that her “focus is on protecting the people of New York and ensuring stability in the City. While I review my options and obligations as the Governor of New York, I expect the Mayor to take the next few days to review the situation and find an appropriate path forward to ensure the people of New York City are being well-served by their leaders. We must give New Yorkers confidence that there is steady, responsible leadership at every level of government.”

For once, a Trump fall guy is going to make some money off him:  a fund owned by Trump Media and Truth Social co-founder Andy Litinsky sold 7.5 million shares of DJT, netting more than $100 million in the process, CNN reports.

A contestant and loser on the fake reality show The Apprentice, Litinsky was prevented from selling the shares previously under the company’s lock-up provisions for insiders.  Litinsky’s shares become the first major block of the stock sold; DJT finished about one percent lower on Thursday.

Litinsky continues to be involved in litigation with Trump and Trump Media, which tried to revoke the shares issued to Litinsky and Wes Moss, another former The Apprentice contestant who help found Trump Media.  Trump claimed they were irresponsible and wasteful in establishing the company, whose sole product is a downgraded Twitter ripoff that continues to lose money.

Besides the exploding door panels and bug-filled software, Boeing will now have to deal with a National Transportation Safety Board recommendation that the aircraft manufacturer to correct a problem that causes a rudder failure in 737 MAX and and older NG jets, the Seattle Times reports.

One would think that a potential rudder failure would prompt the NTSB to do more than issue a recommendation.  According to the FAA, United Airlines was the only US carrier with the effected jets in its fleet, and it already changed the questionable component in nine jets.  But with the Board may issue a wider call to ground the aircraft to change the component in all models.

A new set of Bloomberg/Morning Consult swing state surveys finds Vice President Kamala Harris leading convicted felon former President Trump 50 to 47 percent in both Arizona and Michigan, 52 to 45 percent in Nevada, 50 to 48 percent in North Carolina, 51 to 46 percent in Pennsylvania, and 51 to 48 percent in Wisconsin with Georgia tied at 49 percent each. Again, Bloomberg/Morning Consult was a freaking nightmare for Joe Biden when he was still in the race.

Besides the Taco Bell drive-through at 2:30 a.m., the best place to find hardcore drinkers and other miscreants in the early hours is the local Waffle House, an establishment known for 24/7 service.  Hurricane Helene, which has powered up to be a Category 4 as it hits the southern wasteland of Florida, forced a number of Waffle House diners to shut their doors and take cover, CNN reports.

Rain from the storm is already reaching into northern Georgia as other storms hit the Carolinas and Virginia.  In Florida, officials have ordered certain coastal regions evacuated as the eye of the storm moves north off the coast of Tampa, while other areas have imposed curfews and stay-at-home orders.  Sean Hannity hasn’t yet asked why Floridians have decided to remain in the path of a Category 4 hurricane, nor has he questioned why school buses are still in the hurricane’s path.

A new Fox News survey of likely voters in Georgia finds Vice President Kamala Harris leading convicted felon former President Trump 51 to 48 percent while a Fox Arizona survey finds Trump up 50 to 47. The abortion referendum receives 72 percent support in the poll.

The totally biased in favor of Biden and Harris Justice Department got a federal grand jury to return an indictment against Iranian agents for hacking convicted felon former President Trump’s campaign on Thursday, Politico reports while noting that the charges and the defendants’ identities are not yet available. The full indictment is expected to unsealed publicly on Friday.

Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith has filed the 180 page document outlining convicted felon former President Trump’s failed post-2020 election coup attempt in DC Circuit Judge Tanya Chutkan’s court, Politico’s Josh Gerstein reports, while noting nothing is listed on the docket yet.

That doesn’t actually matter just yet because, as reported, the document will be under seal for as long as Chutkan deems necessary and if she does unseal it for public consumption, there may be heavy redactions in order to comply with grand jury secrecy requirements. The New York Times on Thursday did however note that “A grand jury rule normally requires the government to keep secret information gathered by such investigative bodies – like testimony by witnesses whom prosecutors call to testify before them, or documents investigators gather with their subpoenas. But that rule contains exceptions. Among them, Judge Chutkan can authorize the disclosure of grand jury information ‘preliminarily to or in connection with a judicial proceeding,'” meaning it’s really up to her.

Convicted felon former President Trump will hold a press conference at his decrepit tower in New York City following appellate arguments in the state’s half-billion business fraud case against him.

Right wing propaganda network Newsmax on Thursday reached a settlement in Delaware with voting technology company Smartmatic just days before a trial was to begin in the multi-billion dollar defamation lawsuit filed over Newsmax’s blatant falsehoods claiming Smartmatic has somehow rigged the 2020 election against convicted felon former President Trump, the Guardian reports.

Details of the settlement were not available yet and they may never be as the one last year between Smartmatic and other right wing propaganda outlet OAN was reached confidentially.
