A new ABC News/Ipsos national survey conducted after her debate victory on Tuesday finds Vice President Kamala Harris leading convicted felon former President Trump 51 to 46 percent among likely voters in a full field with all the third party spoiler scrubs included, exactly the same support for each of the candidates as the ABC/Ipsos found in a survey conducted late last month. Harris’s lead over Trump among independent likely voters and 18-29s is even wider at 53 to 44 percent. By gender men 18-29 support Harris 51 to 48, with young women it’s Harris 68 to Trump 30 percent.

On the debate, 58 percent of respondents overall said Harris won to 36 percent falsely declaring Trump the winner, the rest saying they don’t know. There was no partisan crosstab provided on that answer but it’s easy to guess that Republican respondents made up the majority of “don’t know.”

And yes, this could be pretty much meaningless as, despite the “no difference” option, there were no doubt plenty of those who already made up their minds about whom to vote for that said “more favorably” for their chosen candidate and vice versa for the other (would’ve helped if Ipsos gave us a crosstab for 2024 voter intent, especially when YouGov makes it look so fucking easy to lay out readably).

A river otter allegedly dragged a young child off a pier in Kitsap County, Washington and pulled them underwater, but the child was saved when their mother jumped in and fought off the crazed aquatic mammal, CNN reports.

In a rare attack on humans, the otter dragged the child from the pier and into the water, when the mother jumped in causing the otter to release the child and attack the mother.  Grabbing her child, the mother fought off the weasel, sustaining bites and scratches in the process.  Both mother and child were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

Georgia’s Republican Georgia Lt. Governor Burt Jones, one of the sixteen people who signed the slate of fake electors from the state after the 2020 election when he was a state senator, won’t face charges for his participation in the plot to undermine the state’s election results, the head of the state prosecutors’ panel announced, NBC News reports.

“My review of the evidence finds this matter does not warrant further consideration. The evidence reveals Senator Jones acted in a manner consistent with his position representing the concerns of his constituents and in reliance upon the advice of attorneys when he served as an alternate elector,” Peter Skandalakis, the head of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia, said in a four-page statement Friday. “The evidence also indicates Senator Jones did not act with criminal intent, which is an essential element of committing any crime.”

The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council looked into the case because Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was recused from the case after she participated in a fundraiser for Democratic opponent in the Lt. Governor race.

Secretary of State Tony Blinken accused the RT media network of acting as an intelligence gathering operation for the Kremlin, including relating to Russia’s invasion and occupation of Ukraine, according to the Washington Post.
