After numerous reports of violence and assault, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan ordered policed to clear the so-call CHOP (Capitol Hill Organized Protest) zone in the city’s downtown this morning.

More than 20 people were arrested as police swept through the area, where reports of shootings and assaults have surged in the previous few days.
The CHOP zone was established June 8th in the aftermath of protests against racial inequities in the justice system.
