US sets new daily case record with 78k new COVID cases; tops 1,000 fatalities for 4th straight day

The United States logged more than 78,000 new coronavirus cases Friday, topping the previous daily mark by nearly 3,000 cases, as well as registering more than 1,000 fatalities for the fourth consecutive day, according to worldometers.info.

Florida again led the country in new cases reported with more than 12,000 cases, with California being the only other state with more than 10,000.

Texas had 170 fatalities Friday, leading the US. California and Florida also surpassed 100 daily deaths.
