Dr. Anthony Fauci said Wednesday that an approved vaccine could be put into manufacture quickly, with tens of millions of vaccine doses available in early 2021, with a billion made by the end of the year, Reuters reports.
The key, however, would be the vaccines currently in trials getting clearance for distribution, Fauci noted. He commented that he has not personally seen any pressure to approve a vaccine before November’s election.
Fauci’s comments alleviate some concerns that the manufacturing capacity for making a vaccine, and the infrastructure required to distribute it on a large scale, would not be capable of meeting the needs of the American population.
Earlier Wednesday, President Trump declared that the virus is “going away. It will go away like things go away.”
