The Georgia high school made infamous by a student-taken photo of crowded hallways and unmasked students will shut down in-person classes next week and go totally online after at least six students and three staffers tested positive for coronavirus, CNN reports. A middle school student also tested positive.
Paulding County Schools Superintendent Brian Otott said in a letter sent to parents, “As a result of our being informed of nine cases of Covid-19 at North Paulding High School following the first week of in-person instruction, along with the possibility that number could increase if there are currently pending tests that prove positive, we have consulted with the Department of Public Health and are temporarily switching the instructional method to Digital Learning at NPHS.”
The school will go to remote learning for at least Monday and Tuesday, at which point they’ll reevaluate their ability to safely bring students into the school.
Located 30 miles north of Atlanta, North Paulding High School has 2,400 students and 120 teachers, not including staff and administrators.
