With the climate crisis being a key issue of the progressive left of the Party, the Democratic National Convention highlighted various voters calling for a push away from fossil fuels and into renewable energies.
Michelle Lujan Grisham, the Democratic governor of New Mexico, talked about how her state has taken the lead on polluters and committed to a renewable energy future, while she was standing in the midst of a solar power farm.
“We have the opportunity in November to end two existential crises: the Trump presidency and the environmental annihilation he represents,” Gov. Grisham said.
The following video included a clip of Trump calling climate change, “A hoax… it’s all a hoax.”
“When I think about climate, I think about jobs,” Biden says, people explaining the Democratic plan to invest 40% into local economies to lead in clean energy and job creation.
Also highlighted were a teenage girl who was 100 miles from the Camp Fire in California whose asthma flared up due to the smoke carrying through the air; a family farmer who implemented carbon capture techniques on his farm; and a Latina girl who sees the impact of pollution on inner cities.
Billie Eilish then debuted her new song “My Future.”
