“Laura is now a hurricane with 75 mph winds. Hurricane Laura is zeroing in on a Texas or Louisiana landfall Wednesday night or early Thursday, likely as a major hurricane. Watches and warnings have been issued that now cover parts of southeast Texas” ABC13 Houston reports.
“A Hurricane Watch stretches along the coast from Port Bolivar, Texas, to west of Morgan City, Louisiana. Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula, Chambers County, and southern Liberty County are under the watch. A Storm Surge Watch is in effect from San Luis Pass, Texas, to Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Galveston Island, Bolivar Peninsula, coastal Harris County, coastal Galveston Coun ty, coastal Brazoria County, Brazoria Islands and Chambers County are under this watch.Inland, we also have a Tropical Storm Watch for Harris, Galveston, Montgomery, Walker, Trinity, Polk, San Jacinto, and northern Liberty counties.”
