Apparently completely unaware that campaign workers set up chairs and determine protocols for campaign events, Lara Trump claimed on “Fox ‘News’ Sunday” that the campaign “always encourage[s] people to follow the guidelines” relating coronavirus precautions, CNN reports.
“Well, look, we always, whether it’s at this event you saw at the White House or at any campaign event, we always encourage people to follow the guidelines and to do what they think is best for themselves,” Lara Trump told host Chris Wallace. “So we always have masks available we encourage people to use them, we always have a hand sanitizer available, and we encourage people to spread themselves out.”
At events in Charlotte, North Carolina; Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland; and the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, DC, supporters of President Trump’s re-election were crowded together during speeches and few wore masks.
The seats at the South Lawn and Fort McHenry events were pre-positioned before the events by RNC staff. At the Baltimore event, seats were a few feet from each other, but at the White House, they were seated shoulder-to-shoulder.
Also, the Fort McHenry event ignored Baltimore City public health regulations that restricted crowds at outdoor gathers to a maximum of 25 people.
