Andrea Zupancich, the mayor of Babbitt, Minnesota–a town which has a population of 1,495 in the northern part of the state–was featured on the final segment of Tucker Carlson’s Fox “News” program representing six upstate Minnesota mayors who have endorsed Trump in an attempt by Carlson to normalize Democrats voting for Trump.
Zupancich, who is a part-time real estate agent as well as the mayor, appeared following a commercial for The Liberty Lift, a plastic device that helps pull people who can’t stand on their own up from a seated position on a chair or on the ground. (It’s just $19.95, plus shipping and handling.)
“It’s not a matter of who we’re supporting; it’s a matter of what the Democratic Party is representing right now,” Zupancich said. “President Trump is supporting our mining ways, our rights and everything else that we stand for up here.”
“We’re hard-working individuals. We’ve got amazing workforce up here,” Zupancich continued, “and we just don’t see the backing with the minerals that we have up here. We’re sitting on billions of tons of copper, nickel, precious metals–everything that support the Green Deal energy that everyone wants right now–and we’re not seeing the support on the other side and we, we’re a hard-working class up here and this is what we have up here and ya gotta take advantage of what ya have and, um, this is the route that we’re going and we feel like the Democratic Party has left us, not necessarily us leaving them.
Babbitt is also trying to build a campground to help the local economy. Apparently, as republicans have said, Babbitt is a Democrat-run hellscape that people are fleeing from, because the population of the town has dropped by 64% in the last 40 years.
