The motorcycle rally in Sturgis, South Dakota has been linked to the spread of 260,000 coronavirus cases nationwide, according to a report by San Diego State University, reports USA Today.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has called the study “fiction.” South Dakota health officials have supported Noem’s statement, although it is unknown how they would get data from outside their state.
Sturgis attracted more than 400,000 people to the town of 7,000 in western South Dakota. Cases of coronavirus have increased in South Dakota by 70% in the last 30 days.
