More than half a million people are without power and 20 million more are under flash flood warnings as Hurricane Sally, now downgraded to a tropical depression, rolls through the South and heads to Virginia, NBC News reports.
Sally hit landfall as a Category 2 hurricane on the Florida and Alabama coastline, dumping as much as 30 inches of rain in areas. There has been one reported death in the region, which is still undertaking clean up and rescue efforts.
Twenty million people from Georgia to Virginia has been placed under flash flood warnings, with six million under a severe storm alert.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis warned residents to be careful of massive rainfall, even as the high winds of the hurricane subside.
