Seventeen republican members of the House voted against an overwhelming bipartisan bill condemning QAnon, the conspiracy group that sees President Trump as a disruptor in Washington sent there to break up child sex trafficking rings where children are killed and their flesh eaten by “Deep State” actors, the Daily Beast reports.
The resolution, which received 371 votes for passage, called on federal law enforcement and intelligence groups to allocate resources to investigate the conspiratorial group, which has been linked to murders, kidnappings and violent acts around the country.
Kelly Loeffler, the republican Senator from Georgia, has voiced support for QAnon theories, and the republican Congressional nominee Marjorie Taylor Greene, also from Georgia, has called herself a member of the group.
QAnon signs and t-shirts are routinely seen at Trump rallies, and the President has praised the group for its faithfulness to him. QAnon has been pushing theories about Trump’s coronavirus diagnosis, claiming that it’s part of his plan to “drain the swamp.”
The 17 republicans were joined by Independent Justin Amash, who said in a tweet the resolution, which has no legally binding authority, “threatens protected speech (absurd as that speech may be), and its prescriptions for addressing QAnon aren’t appropriate for what we know about them & may make things worse.”
