Fox “News” host Chris Wallace, the person who sat at the moderator’s desk during Tuesday presidential debate, said in an network interview that the Trump posse arrived too late in Cleveland for Cleveland Clinic, the medical overseers of the event, to test the members of their party for coronavirus, CleveScene reports.
“There was an honor system when it came to the people that came into the hall from the two campaigns,” Wallace told Fox co-anchor Bill Hemmer.
The Cleveland Clinic confirmed that the members of the candidates’ parties were tested by the campaigns prior to arriving in Cleveland, but they did not specify the timeframe of those tests. The Trump family and their guests immediately removed their masks after taking their seats in the audience, in defiance of the rules for attending the event.
Daily Beast reporter Andrew Kirell tweeted the exchange between Wallace and Hemmer.
