President Trump released a four-minute video from Walter Reed Military Medical Center, where he’s being treated for coronavirus, saying that he “has to be back because we still hafta make America great again.”

With noticeably labored breathing and seated at a desk with a binder and files as if he’s working, Trump thanked the staff of the hospital for the care he’s been given and he’s touted the therapeutics he’s been prescribed.
“And I’ll be back and I think I’ll be back soon and I look forward to finishing up the campaign the way it was started and the way we’ve been doing it, the kind of numbers we’ve been doing, we’ve been so proud of it, but this was something that happened and it’s happened ta millions of people all over the world and I’m fighting for them, not just the US. I’m fight for them all over the world. We’re gonna beat this coronavirus or whatever ya wanna call it and we’re gonna beat it soundly.”
Trump said that “so many things have happened, if you look at the therapeutics.” In fact, no therapeutics have been approved for the treatment of coronavirus. Trump is reportedly taking Remdesivir, an anti-viral drug that was created in 2009, during the Obama Administration.
“Other are coming out soon that are looking like–… frankly, they’re miracles, if you wanna know the truth,” Trump claimed. “They’re miracles. People criticize me when I say that, but we have things happen that look like they’re miracles coming down from God.
Trump said he “wants to thank the leaders of the world for their condolences,” as well as thanking the American people and “almost a bipartisan consensus” for their support.
Trump claimed that he was given a choice to stay in the White House, but he himself decided to go to Walter Reed. “But I had not choice because I just didn’t wanna stay in the White House. I was given that alternative: stay in the White House, lock yourself in, don’t ever leave, don’t even go to the Oval Office, just stay upstairs and enjoy it. Don’t see people. Don’t talk to people and just be done with it, and I can’t do that. I had to be out front.”
Trump did not explain why he could not work from the residence, as other Presidents have done, even when they were not sick. Trump also did not explain how being isolated in Walter Reed Hospital puts him “out front.”
“This is America. This is the United States. This is the greatest country in the world. This is the most powerful country in the world,” Trump rambled. “I can’t be locked up in a room upstairs and totally safe and just say, ‘Hey, whatever happens, happens.’ I can’t do that.”
Trump wasn’t clear how being in Walter Reed was different than being in the residence of the White House. He also did not explain why his current situation is different from when he declared, “It is what it is,” regarding the coronavirus.
“We have to confront problems. As a leader, you have to confront problems,” Trump said. “There’s never been a great leader who’s ever done that.”
