Donald Trump has made a remarkable number of misstatements about his coronavirus condition in television interviews and on Twitter today, further sowing misinformation about his health and the virus.
Trump told Fox “News” host Maria Bartiromo, “I beat this crazy, horrible China virus,” in a rambling, sometime incoherent Sunday morning interview. “I even feel good by the fact that, you know, the word ‘immunity’ means something. Having really a protective glow means something. I think it’s very important to have that. To have that is a very important thing.”
There is limited evidence that having had the coronavirus provides any long-term immunity from reinfection. Additionally, Sean Conley, the president’s personal physician, has not declared Trump is free of the virus, only claiming that his viral load is reduced.
A tweet Trump posted later in the morning has also been flagged by Twitter as promoting misinformation about the coronavirus.
A total and complete sign off from White House Doctors yesterday. That means I can’t get it (immune), and can’t give it. Very nice to know!!!
