The original cast of the popular television series “The West Wing” will reunite for a stage version of an episode to be aired on HBO Max, benefiting the Michelle Obama-led non-profit When We All Vote. The performance will air Thursday, October 15th, which would have been the date of the second presidential debate.

Original cast members appearing include Martin Sheen, Rob Lowe, Dulé Hill, Elisabeth Moss, Allison Janney, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, and Bradley Whitford. Sterling K. Brown will take over the role of Chief of Staff Leo McGarry, originally portrayed by John Spencer, who died in 2005.
Special guests include Michelle Obama, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Samuel L. Jackson and former President Bill Clinton.
The cast will perform the Aaron Sorkin-written Season 3 episode “Hartsfield’s Landing” during which a small town in New Hampshire casts the first votes in the Democratic primary.
The episode is being staged as a play. Filming took place at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles in October. Subscribers to HBO can view it on the HBO Max platform at no additional cost.
