The daily number of new confirmed cases of coronavirus in the United States topped 162,000 cases, a slight decrease from the previous day’s all-time high, although the number of hospitalization due to COVID increased to record levels, according to COVID Tracking Project data.
More than 1,300 Americans died of the coronavirus Saturday, with another 69,000 being hospitalized with the virus. Worldometers, another aggregator, listed 156,000 new cases and 1,250 fatalities.
Worldometers shows that Illinois led the nation in both new cases and fatalities, the first time the state has topped the nation in both categories.
