The man with the shiny new made-up title “Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict” for the next two months and five days, Ezra Cohen-Watnick, is an old MAGA conspiracy theory hero dating back to March 2017 when as the White House National Security Council’s “senior director for intelligence programs” he was involved in then-House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes’s gambit to expose the “unmasking” of Trump campaign contacts with Russian scumbags during the 2016 campaign and transition period.
Cohen-Twatnick was fired by former National Security Adviser HR McMaster after a power struggle later in 2017 and bounced around a few roles over the years, including with the DOJ for some reason until Trump installed him at the Pentagon following the purge of Mark Esper last week. Now he’s on Twitter – and not because he wants to be – because as his lawyer Mark Zaid explains “As personal attoney for Ezra A Cohen, I want to confirm that he joined Twitter last month. Twitter has been asked to verify his one and only account and hopefully will do so soon… Ezra reluctantly created this account in order to counter existence of fake accounts… there are no tweets from the account, only retweets of official government tweets.”
Why would some semi-obscure “Deep State” worm need to worry about sock puppets pretending to be him? Well as NBC News reports “With the official Q account silent, followers turned to high-profile QAnon influencers on YouTube and Twitter, and even seized on new government insiders. On 4chan and Twitter, QAnon followers began idolizing — and even pretending to be — Ezra Cohen-Watnick, a Trump loyalist who was promoted to acting undersecretary of defense for intelligence and security after a series of firings and resignations at the Defense Department this week. Similar to ‘Q,’ they claimed ‘ECW’ had almost mythical powers to aid the president’s fight against a nonexistent cabal and help Trump remain in office.”
That this fucking creep is supposed to be the savior of a religion in the midst of its crisis of faith should tell you a lot about what QAnon people are made of.
